Gratitude and Learning Journal: Day 7
This is a true story.
A grandfather liked some lilies.
His daughter knew this and sent him expensive lilies called Casablanca lilies every year.
Grandfather said to his daughter “you don’t have to do this. Don’t send me any more Casablanca lilies.”
His daughter thought he was concerned for her cost in sending them, so she said “don’t worry about it.” and kept sending them.
But it turned out he really didn’t want Casablanca lilies.
Because, he had placed those flowers on the altar which was in his bedroom, and those flowers are big and have strong smell. And she had sent many.
Every year, he had slept in stifling smell.
He was a kind grandfather, and she was his kind daughter.
I think sending and receiving gifts may be a difficult art.
