A Great Programming Textbook

Gratitude and Learning Journal: Day 8

I have found a great textbook for Computer Science beginner.

The book’s title is “Automate the Boring Stuff With Python.”

It’s written by Al Sweigart.

I like the idea presented by the book title that not only I will learn to program but also I will acquire handy skills.

Sometimes authors in computer science education give their textbooks for free or very inexpensively.

For example, Dr Charles R. Severance gives us “Python for Everybody” and Mr. Marijn Haverbeke gives us “Eloquent JavaScript” for free.

So I searched for that kind of information if there was any, and I found it!

He has a website which lets us read his book for free.

It’s completely legit.

Amazon has his profile section, and it says, “His books are freely available under a Creative Commons license at his website https://inventwithpython.com.

I am very grateful for his kindness and generosity.

Some of us need great but inexpensive education.

It’s a 592 pages long textbook, so I can’t write the review sometime soon, but I wanted to share this great news with you.

So far I’ve read until the end of chapter 6, and it’s been great with a sense of humor!

I found this book by Jamie Foster’s computer science textbooks recommendations page.
