Understanding We Need Rest

Gratitude and Learning Journal: Day 1

A very good thing happened today.

I have listened to a great Japanese audiobook titled, “自衛隊メンタル教官が教える 心の疲れをとる技術 (朝日新書),” Written by Shimozono Souta.

There are many good things written in this book, but I have paraphrased some of his messages in English for you.

1. “Because life is long, and we need rest in order for us to be well, to rest consciously is part of our job.”

2. “The author recommends us to write down 3 good things, 1 bad thing, and 1 idea for improvement onto the notebook every day.”

3. “When you pursue your ideals, don’t aim for 100%, but be satisfied if you achieve 70 to 30%, since it’s more realistic yet challenging enough.”

I understand better now that we need to rest.

I’ve been practicing some of his advice, and results are showing, so I’d like to make it a habit.
